It is with great pleasure that we announce Barclays as the headline sponsor of the Red Rose Awards 2021. This year marks the eighth year that Barclays have sponsored the Red Rose Awards, first sponsoring in 2014.
Barclays Bank provides a wide range of banking and financial services throughout the world, with local teams based here in Lancashire.
With 20 categories open for entries, there’s something for all businesses in Lancashire to aim for. The Red Rose Awards celebrates business through sector specific categories, plus categories open to all such as employer of the year, customer service award and the innovation award.
John Stanworth, head of Lancashire and Cumbria at Barclays, explains why the organisation supports the Red Rose Awards.
RRA: How did Barclays first get involved with the Red Rose Awards?
JS: Having initially been an attendee, we saw the opportunity to assist in promoting the success of businesses throughout the county, a decision we have never regretted.
RRA: What changes have you seen in the Red Rose Awards over the years that you have been involved?
JS: It’s got bigger and better in every area. The quality of entrants continues to be of the highest standard but the number of entries has increased annually. The event itself has become the largest and most enjoyable in the county.
RRA: What is the most rewarding part of being a sponsor?
JS: Our exposure to some of the best businesses has been invaluable, having the opportunity to learn from the key decision makers and what, how and why they made the decisions that shaped their business.
RRA: How do you feel that the Red Rose Awards benefit Lancashire?
JS: It’s a showcase for the county demonstrating that it is a place to locate and do business in and with. We show we have a vibrant economy and some outstanding and talented people.
RRA: How do you feel that your involvement with the Red Rose Awards benefits Barclays?
JS: Being associated with success is where we want to be. We have the chance to promote to our clients and an ability to give something back to the community that supports our business.
RRA: Do you have any words of advice for businesses who may be considering entering this year?
JS: In what has been an extremely difficult year, it is of paramount importance to celebrate the resilience, diligence and success businesses have achieved and the way they have done so. Don’t procrastinate, just enter!
Since the awards were launched in 2011, it has steadily grown and become the centrepiece attraction for the business community.
Businesses interested in entering the awards have until August 20 to submit their entry forms. The finalists will be announced on September 10, and they will then be given the opportunity to put their best case to the judges on September 22 and 23.
