RED ROSE AWARDS HONOURS BEST OF LANCASHIRE BUSINESS

March 2024 General News

The winners of the 2024 Red Rose Awards were revealed at a glamorous black-tie celebration hosted by Winter Gardens Blackpool and attended by more than 1,000 members of the Lancashire business community.

The big winners on the night were Chiptech and Senator International which won two awards each EWGA Wines lifted the Lancashire Business View Award.

Lancaster-based Chiptech, designs and manufactures products which help elderly and vulnerable people to lead independent lives. It won the Medium Business Award and its second consecutive Scale-Up Award after delivering 100,000 devices in its first four years of trading.

Accrington’s Senator, winner of the Export Award, manufactures a wide range of workplace furniture which is exported to more than 160 countries around the world. Last year it launched a new community foundation which has already raised more than £115,000 for good causes, helping Senator land the Environmental, Social and Governance Award.

EWGA Wines of Carnforth won the Lancashire Business View Award - which is selected by the organisers from entries across all of the categories. The business has overcome significant adversity and tremendous success by sourcing wines from around the world and supplying them to hospitality businesses and wholesalers across the UK.

Since launching in 2011, the Red Rose Awards have become the county’s favourite awards event, honouring organisations of all sizes and sectors. Twenty-three awards were handed out across the night, covering specific sectors, as well as recognising achievements such as customer service, community impact and - new for 2024 - the most impactful collaboration between two or more organisations.

To win an award, entrants first passed a verification stage undertaken by RSM before putting their best case forward to a panel of independent judges in a process backed by Lancaster University.

The event also raised funds for the Lancashire Red Rose Responding Fund, a project organised by the Community Foundation for Lancashire aiming to raise £500,000 towards the support of mental health and wellbeing for people of all ages and backgrounds, particularly those most vulnerable, throughout the county.

Stephen Bolton, managing director of Lancashire Business View, said: “The Red Rose Awards never fails to amaze everyone involved and everyone who attends on the night.

“Each year we hear more impressive stories, have a tougher time picking the winners, and have even more fun celebrating the winners.

“Congratulations to everybody who took home a trophy - the competition was fierce and your award is richly deserved.”

And commiserations to our losing finalists who pushed the winners hard.”

Red Rose Awards was once again supported by Forbes Solicitors, headline sponsor every year since the awards were launched in 2011, and Barclays, headline sponsor for more than a decade.

Pauline Wild, managing partner at headline partner Forbes, said: “This has been another vintage year for Lancashire businesses. Picking a shortlist and a winner for each category was incredibly difficult, but being able to celebrate their achievements is always a rewarding experience.

“Congratulations to all the winners, and to the Red Rose Awards team for another fantastic event for what continues to be one of my favourite days in the business calendar.”

John Stanworth, head of corporate banking at Barclays in Lancashire and Cumbria, said: “The entries for the Red Rose Awards 2024 were of exceptional quality and it’s been fantastic to see businesses that haven’t been involved before put themselves forward.

“Picking the winners was once again a very difficult job indeed and so those that have won awards should be very proud.”
